Thanks to everyone who has been reading the Tour Blog over the last year! Whether you found it controversial or convivial, we assure you that there will be more stories to come! And what better to entertain you with than a new tour?!
2009 finds Zelazowa on the cusp of an epic new album release, and their triumphant return to the road after an extensive stint in the studio crafting their watershed album Elephants on a Mousehunt ! The hunt begins on January 17th with the official CD release party at The Khyber in Philadelphia, Pa. and an extensive tour of the US.
Elephants on a Mousehunt was produced by Zelazowa with Patrick Himes and Rosemary Haskins of Waterworks Entertainment (Nashville, Tn.), mixed by Noel Benford, and mastered by the legendary Howie Weinberg (Beastie Boys License to Ill, Nirvana Nevermind, Public Enemy Fear of a Black Planet, Smashing Pumpkins Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, to name just a few). The album includes 13 tracks of prime Zelazowa in all the window shaking fury and melodic bliss that sets them apart from their so-called “peers.” Take a moment and download a few FREE tracks from the new album at PureVolume!
Between recording and releasing a full length album, and booking and promoting a national tour, the guys also managed to launch an incredible new website which is literally revolutionizing the indie music industry. When you play over 500 shows in 3 years, like Zelazowa, you develop a network of booking contacts. That may be a bit of an understatement. In doing so, you also develop an appreciation for how hard it is to book your own tour, research venues, and network with other bands in different markets.
Perhaps if it were easier to book a tour, without paying a huge sum of money (or ANY sum of money, for that matter) to a booking agent, maybe more bands would tour? If more bands would tour, maybe more people would go see shows? If more bands were touring and people were seeing shows, maybe venues would thrive and the industry would create more viable artists and better music, etc. and so-forth!
Enter, Indie on the Move. Founded by the members of Zelazowa, Indie on the Move allows users to create a free account, and access a monumental database of venues and booking info completely free of charge. Users can instantly access up-to-date information that could have taken them months or years to compile on their own. And with an ever growing community of independent artists, so too does the database grow. Access booking info, submit and review venues from your own database and experience, and network with bands and musicians from across the country. It sounds too good to be true, but it’s only getting better. With the springboard success of indieonthemove.com the site is constantly being improved and new features added to assist the DIY-minded musician and revitalize a stagnating industry!
